Bristol’s InMotion – Phase 1 Line-Up’s Revealed

After kicking off with our two opening parties, in October we take things to the next level, yet again raising the bar for the In:Motion series. The jam-packed schedule features some of the most in-demand DJs and artists in the world – spilling over with vibrant shades of house, techno, grime, drum&bass, jungle, hip-hop and anthemic live music.

The Blast is one of the most vital nights to showcase the more bass-heavy end of the electronic music spectrum in the UK, and they line up some more serious heaters for their event on Friday 6 October. Room one is hosted by UK garage supergroup TQD, fresh from the release of their infectious UKG album, and joined by P Money, Elijah & Skilliam and Skepsis. The Blast unites artists from the UK's fresh faced new generation, and Mancunian label and party Swing Ting are currently at the vanguard of a new wave with their vibrant take on dancehall garage and grime. There's no one better to represent this than Murlo, who will be joined by Famous Eno, Samrai, Joey B, Platt, Trigganom, and L U C Y.

Next up, on Saturday 7 October we get our stomp on with An Evening With, where Rødhåd's special extended set will allow plenty of time for his pummeling, intoxicating techno to take a hold of you. Warming up for this tough as nails session is Dystopian associate Jon Hester. It's sure to be a night of music to lose yourself in.

On Friday 13 October A-list clubbing brand Cream will provide a taste of Ibiza. Paul Oakenfield's time-traveling Generations show will be an illuminating trip – sending you hurtling through decades of rich club culture with a man who has seen his fair share. He is joined by Cream regulars John O'Callaghan, Simon Patterson, Menno De Jong and Anthony Probyn, sure to channel the most luxurious aspects of the White Isle.

One of the most essential labels in woozy deep house Shall Not Fade takes over on Friday 13 October. They welcome Detroit house music OG Andres, whose colourful, punchy take on the sound will be nicely complimented by lo-fi guy DJ Boring and his emotive, decayed house music, Shall Not Fade label regularAdryiano and residents LK and KGW.

A pillar of the drum&bass scene and consistently one of Motion's most highly anticipated nights, Hospitalityreturns on Saturday 14 October, where once again Hospital Records will showcase the beating heart of contemporary drum&bass and jungle. As always, it's a hefty selection: in Room 1 we have the likes of special guests The Prototypes, High Contrast, Fred V & Grafix live and Danny Byrd, while Room 2 welcomes London Elektricity alongside Fabio & Grooverider, who will take you back to the golden age with a Rage era Jungle set.

As Bristol's Simple Things festival prepares to untie lovers of experimental music, electronic pop phenomenon Metronomy will play the Simple Things Opening at Motion on Friday 20 October. Full of anthemic moments and lopsided future pop, their live show is sure to provide plenty of hair-raising moments. Also on Friday 20 October, MK will provide his distinctive brand of soul enriching house for his own Area 10 party with A-grade house music from Icarus, KC Lights and Will Clarke.

Saturday 21st October will welcome London's infamous party crew The Heatwave, bringing their infectious, not to mention raucous, blend of bashment and dancehall. Then, on Thursday 26 October In:Motion will present Berlin electronic music veteran Paul Kalkbrenner, renowned for his dramatic, cinematic, melodic dance music, and unique techno sensibility, for those who prefer their electronic disciplines to assume a darker, stranger aspect.

The Blast Halloween on Friday 27 October presents a mammoth line-up of hell-raising sounds, with Shy FX, Congo Natty, Chris Lorenzo, Zinc, Darkzy & Bru C, Zed Bias, Roska B2B Jus Now, Harlem Spartans, Chimpo and Jamie Duggan.

Finally, some of the most cherished names in contemporary house and techno step up for Just Jack on Saturday 28 October. For a very rare appearance, legendary disco voyager DJ Harvey will beam all manner of tantric dancefloor gold into Room 1 all night long. He is joined by long-term Panorama Bar residents Steffi and Virginia, masters of Amsterdam's woozy house sounds Young Marco and Interstellar Funk and esteemed Just Jack residents Tom Rio and Dan Wild.

Phase 2 & 3 of the In:Motion series will be announced soon. Watch this space.
