Mendo & Yvan Genkins - Buggsy EP

February 13th sees Swiss-born DJ/producers Mendo and Yvan Genkins team up for their debut EP on Mar-T’s acclaimed label, Wow! Recordings, entitled ‘Buggsy’.

Although this is the first time the double act have released on Mar-T’s imprint, the two artists have collaborated previously, releasing on Coyu’s Suara, Defected Records, Mihalis Safras & Mark Broom’s Material, Nic & Mark Fanculli’s Saved Recordsand on Mendo’s own label, Clarisse Records, in the past.

Kicking off this excellent two-track release is the EP’s title-named track, ‘Buggsy’, a funk-driven Tech House roller featuring; vibrant percussive elements, an abundance of sound effects and a sprinkling of old-school Funk/Disco samples which are interspersed throughout the six-minute number.

Closing the EP is ‘Smashed’, a darker Tech-House offering that sees the pair combine powerful four-to-the-floor rhythm with industrial pad-effects, manipulated vocal inserts and a deep and moody underlying sub bass that adds further intensity to the track.

‘Buggsy’ EP is available exclusively via Beatport on February 13th and everywhere else two weeks later.
