Bumble reveals first Making Moves In Music artist

Bumble’s MMM artist will perform at ID&T’s biggest festival Mysteryland 2019 and play the opening set for Martin Garrix’s STMPD RCRDS
stage at Ultra Music Festival.

In November 2018, Bumble announced it’s inaugural Making Moves In Music (MMM) campaign, an initiative aimed at helping close the gender gap for women DJs and producers in a heavily male-dominated industry.  With over 50 million users worldwide, the women-first social network is striving to challenge and campaign for more females to enter the dance music industry.

From over 500 inspiring entries, only six made it into the first phase of competition and attended an intense three-day masterclass and bootcamp in Amsterdam where they were taught valuable skills from industry experts. Following Amsterdam, the final three were chosen based on their unbelievable music skills and talent. Last week, the three finalists were taken to Los Angeles for a three-day boot camp with Sony's record labelAstralwerks. Here they worked intensively one-on-one with major producers to produce their own demo track for Astralwerks who will release the produced track of the MMMartist.

After two rounds of bootcamps and intense deliberation between Bumble’s partners – PR agency The Media Nanny, Dutch music giant ID&T, and record label Astralwerks – Bumble proudly present their MMM artist: Nicky Elisabeth. She inspired all partners of the Making Moves In Music initiative with her commitment and passion for music and the will to make her dreams come true.

Nicky Elisabeth, MMM artist: "Making Moves in Music was an incredible experience. I’ve learned so much in the past couple of months and met many inspiring music professionals. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!"

Louise Troen, VP, International Marketing & Communications Bumble: ‘We are so excited to announce Nicky as our winning artist across MMM. She embodies all of our values as a brand and her talent is undeniable. Her ethic and attitude across the whole campaign has been inspiring and this project has showcased that when you give talent a platform, the support and the encouragement to shine – industries, peoples lives and our attitudes can shift. This is just the beginning for Nicky, and Bumble’s commitment to continuing to rebalance gender equality within the music space."

José Woldring, CEO & founder The Media Nanny: "The MMM initiative idea started over a casual drink with one of my dearest friends Louise only five months ago, sharing the same passion and ideas on changing our industry, and I still can't describe in words how proud and happy I am with the success and support we have had in such a short period of time. We were completely overwhelmed by the amount of talented women that applied for the program that all shared the same passion for music, which led into an amazing masterclass program to encourage six finalists to take their musical careers to the next level. I am so excited about having Nicky Elisabeth as our MMM. She truly showed her talent and motivation in so many ways and I cannot wait to see her develop herself as an artist in our industry in the near future."

Toby Andrews, general manager Astralwerks: "We couldn't be happier for Nicky and send her a huge congratulations on how she did throughout the process! It was a pleasure getting to know her and we look forward to working with her a lot more in the future to help build her career."

Anaïs d’Olivat, talent buyer ID&T: “MMM enables young and creative women to grow, be independent and hopefully it will be one of the stepping stones in their music careers.”

Nicky will be taken to Miami Music Week in March where she will perform at the STMPD RCRDS stage at Ultra Music Festival. Following Ultra, Nicky will close the festival season with a performance at ID&T’s biggest summer festival, Mysteryland 2019.
