After the release of the ‘90s-R&B leaning “Never Complaining,” Tom Aspaul has graced listeners with the second taste of his forthcoming LEFT EP. Titled “Burnt Out,” the fresh single continues to exhibit his musical diversity front-and-center with a sugar-coated blend of pop and R&B vocals atop a jubilant, indie-house stylized instrumental. Produced by an exciting new collaborator in Tim Deal (The Dealer), Aspaul notes the song “is about how London changes whoever moves here…at some point, everyone becomes burnt out.” Despite its melancholy source material, the track has a special place in Aspaul’s heart: “This was one of the first songs I wrote after I moved to London – and possibly my favourite.” Thus, he finally has the chance to present his intimate creation to the world.
As for the EP in its entirety – the audible result of grappling with life as a 20- something London transplant through dance, pop, and R&B sensibilities – look for production work from rising star MNEK (Beyonce, Zara Larsson) and co-writing from Nao affiliate Dan Traynor (GRADES). Burnt Out is out Friday 21st of October while LEFT is slated for release on November 4th via BLK&WHT Records.
