When Dutch melody merchants T & Sugah started High Tea Music in 2016 with High Tea Music Vol. 1, the excitement was felt from Holland to all over the drum ‘n bass scene. They followed it up with three more volumes each further cementing the label’s place among the liquid subgenre, maintaining their success alongside a remix album and soon afterwards through a plethora of solo, soulful dnb tracks.
They have since continued their ascent with their Caffeine Rush series, their cleverly named and perfectly crafted compilations. These more dancefloor oriented anthologies on the label elevated High Tea into the agenda’s forefront, and they’ve provided for fans over this lockdown period with Caffeine Rush 2.
From the first track on – a funk-driven Dossa & Locuzzed flip – the album introduces a versatile selection whilst never losing the High Tea DNA. It’s got great twists and turns, into jump up, deep rollers and even halftime. Rex Hooligan, Blooom, Haszan & Overload, Quoone & xNora, Phonetic, Psynchro, Effected Life, Papercut, Revlo & Z3nit and Sensus all bring their A-game to this 12 track body of work, with satisfying original tracks, and a slappy BL4CK CROWZ remix completes the roll call. This album is exactly what you didn’t know you needed this summer and it identifies you with the sound which has made their groundbreaking events such a mainstay place for ravers across Europe.
