Faceless Recordings is back mid July with the Cali Launauze ‘What’s Missing (Remixes)’, featuring interpretations from Kiki, Roland Appel, Clint Stewart and label founders Silky & Barber.
The Facless Recordings imprint has come a long way since its inception in 2013 with material from the likes of Chaim, Balcazar & Sordo, Jay Tripwire and James Teej being found in the catalogue, as well as support from the likes of Jori Hulkonnen, Shadow Child and wAFF. Here the label push on with a remix package of Puerto Rico’s Cali Lanauze who releases the fifth release on the label ‘What’s Missing’ in October 2014.
Kicking off the package is Kiki’s take on ‘Kiss Your Dark Eyes’ and the German producer, notably known for his smash hit ‘Good Voodoo’, delivers a brooding reshape with menacing bass stabs, squelching acid licks and tripped out vocals. Following is Munich’s Roland Appel with a remix of ‘Minutes’, taking things in a stripped and subtly unfolding direction with swelling pads, low slung rhythms and dreamy melodies.
Kicking off the latter half of the package is Clint Stewart’s rework of ‘No More Philosophy feat. Emiliano Martini’ and the stateside artist remoulds the original number into smooth and progressive cut fuelled by elongated subs, bubbling synth tones and swirling atmospherics. Label heads Silky & Barber then pair up to round things off, taking on ‘Tell Me Your Story’ and stamping their signature rough and ready rhythmic touch on things, while intricately processing the vocal licks and swirling pad lines.
The Cali Lanauze ‘What’s Missing (Remixes)’ package is out on Faceless Recordings 13th July 2015.
