Camp Bestival Announces Mister Maker and More

Join Camp Bestival’s voyage of festi-holiday fun and do something different with your family. Kick off your summer holidays in style at the UK’s official Best Family Festival. With Simple Minds, Rick Astley and Clean Bandit topping a huge music line-up and CB faves Mr Tumble, Dick and Dom, Matthew Bourne and many more already bringing seafaring folk aboard, we’re dancing a hornpipe of delight as we reveal even more fantastic family entertainment from Kids TV legends and trapeze tricksters to life size whales and beyond, all set to blow your minds come the end of July at Lulworth Castle, when Camp Bestival Sets Sail.

CB Skipper Rob da Bank says: “The deckhands and salty seadogs keep on coming with loads more interactive shenanigans for the kids and family added to this year’s line-up. Me and the team spend a lot of time seeking out the most enjoyable and enchanting shows and activities we can find to bring them to Lulworth Castle so that you can do something different with your family every day at Camp Bestival. Come and get stuck into the fun. We will be!”.

They wowed the Castle Stage crowds on their Camp Bestival debut, so we are super-excited to welcome back the very best at things to make and do, Mister Maker and the Shapes! An inspiration to sailors and mermaids young and old, Mister Maker is an expert at stirring the imagination and, along with The Shapes, Minute Make It Time and creative demonstrations galore, they’ve already sailed to the top of our to do list.

If you’re looking for some even more out-there family fun then why not get a bird’s eye view of all our maritime madness and learn to fly with the Nautical Gorilla Circus Show & Flying Trapeze School?! Counted among the world’s most renowned teachers of the art of trapeze, you can get involved with the ‘have a swing’ sessions or take part in an in-depth pre-booked lesson. But that’s not all, be sure to catch their exhibitions of grace, strength and agility each day as they amaze and astound one and all with high flying antics and a dazzling, death-defying display of aerial trickery.

We are proud to present a very special UK festival exclusive, ZSL London Zoo: Gruesome Nature Live! An interactive musical show featuring original songs, you can find out the frightful facts about some truly grisly creatures, including who’s got the largest, slimiest eyeball, and which species of animal can endure fire, ice and radiation and even survive in outer space, plus many more monstrous truths! Guaranteed to be grossly enthralling you won’t be able to see this at any other festival, so don’t miss out!

We’ve got rock and pop for all the family too, from Andy & the Odd Socks. A face familiar to all, CBeebies presenter Andy was a smash hit at last year’s show, so we are delighted that he’s back with his ace band and their fun-packed live show singing stories of aliens, dinosaurs and robots, while mixing rock, pop, rap and funk with hilarious audience participation.

And last but certainly not least we invite you to experience The Whale – The Pirates Misadventure and journey into the belly of a beast! Cast off your shoes and squeeze into an amazing 50ft inflatable Sperm Whale that lies in wait at the Magic Meadow. A jaw-dropping spectacle inside and out, brave young swashbucklers are led into its depths past a nosy fishwife, to a lavishly decorated seascape interior. Once inside our seafaring sorts will meet a shipwrecked pirate with a treasure tale to tell and they’ll discover an intriguing secret about a real, live Mermaid who’ll sing a haunting siren’s song.

With a host of music, theatre, family shows, fairground attractions, outdoor activities, poets, authors, comics and amazing food you can always do something different with your family at Camp Bestival
