Chris Liebing - Card House

Chris Liebing has unveiled a new track, ‘Card House’, a seven-and-a-half minute groove featuring Miles Cooper Seaton (from the avant-rock collective Akron / Family), and the latest track to be taken from his forthcoming album, Burn Slow, out on Mute on 7 September 2018.

The brooding electronic album, Burn Slow, is Chris Liebing’s first album for Mute, and will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally. The 10-track album also features vocal contributions from a diverse range of artists: Gary Numan, Cold Cave, Mute labelmate Polly Scattergood (onDeadWaves), and Aleen.

On ‘Card House’, describing how “we are alive here in this moment”, the epic track showcases the new album’s key concept of presence – the idea that everything is happening in this moment, and that everything in the past is mere memory. It’s something Liebing got in touch with via the philosopher Alan Watts, not to mention decades of getting entire dancefloors lost in the present.

As part of a worldwide tour, Chris Liebing recently announced a free** Burn Slow album launch event on Saturday 8 September in Amsterdam. Doors are open from 1pm until 11pm and during his set, Chris will be playing out the album in full for the first time.

“Something super special for me (and hopefully for you) is coming up… To celebrate the release of my new album on Mute, Burn Slow, we are doing a special free album launch in Amsterdam – I hope to see you there!” – Chris Liebing

All Day Long, in association with Loveland, will take place at Kaap Oost Amsterdam, an amazing secluded location on Zeeburg Island, close to Amsterdam. It will be the perfect place to escape the city and burn slow…

The Burn Slow project began its evolution with two remixes, for Depeche Mode’s Going Backwards and Goldfrapp’s Everything Is Never Enough – both artists associated with his new label, which has been an inspiration for Chris Liebing since a young age: “Without realising, a lot of the music I was into came from just one label, Mute. I vividly remember dancing around at my neighbour’s house in the early ‘80s to songs by Depeche Mode and Yazoo. Banging my head in dark basements to the likes of DAF, Laibach and Nitzer Ebb to name but a few.”

Chris Liebing’s forthcoming DJ schedule is as relentless as ever, with performances scheduled worldwide throughout the summer. Full details below.
