Cardiff Fans Set for Lack of Afro “Love Dealer” Album Tour Show

Revered musician and soundtracker, Lack of Afro, is set to light up The Globe in Cardiff on Wednesday 29th October as he embarks on his largest ever UK tour. Expect a funk and soul spectacle with disco sparkle as the acclaimed artist, alongside his 6-piece band, plays brand-new material from his highly anticipated new album Love Dealer, which lands 10th October; just in time for the Cardiff show. The brand new LP includes the recently released Double A-Side ‘Walls Start Rockin // Heart & Soul’. Advance tickets are now on sale from £21.50 + bf via Ticketek.

Known for wooing front-row crowds under the lights, Lack of Afro is ecstatic to return with his most dancefloor-focused LP to date. ‘Love Dealer’ dives head-first into disco and four-to-the-floor grooves, layering celebratory strings and buoyant basslines; it’s all out dancefloor tonic.

The Double A-Side ‘Walls Start Rockin // Heart & Soul’ offers a tantalising preview of this new era. ‘Walls Start Rockin’’ glides across the floor with filtered vocal chops and French touch finesse, while ‘Heart & Soul’ delivers a ‘Groovejet’-style smoothness, complete with contemplative piano solos and glam-infused sparkle.

“The thrill of seeing people on a dancefloor, all collectively locked into a track that you’ve produced – there’s nothing like it!” – Lack of Afro.

A colossus of the funk and soul world, Lack of Afro (aka Adam Gibbons) has been releasing music for 19 years and runs his own Bastion Music Group imprint. His debut album ‘Press On’ was lauded by iDJ as “one of the most important albums of the modern funk era,” and more recently given ‘classic’ status by Future Music Magazine. To date he has amassed over 125 million+ Spotify streams, scored tracks for HBO, Google, Spotify and Adidas campaigns, and composed music heard on BBC, ITV, Sky TV and more.

On the road, Adam has toured across 20 countries and recorded live sessions for BBC Maida Vale Studios. His 2023 single ‘Loving Arms’, a collaboration with vocalist Greg Blackman, dominated the BBC 6 Music playlist and drew praise from Craig Charles and Lauren Laverne alike. With his new material in hand, this autumn’s shows promise to be his most electrifying yet.

The Globe, once a cinema, now Cardiff’s premier 350-capacity live music venue, offers an intimate setting and the perfect backdrop for a night of funk, soul and disco-fuelled celebration.
