Hot off the heels of his Beatport Top 100 single, ‘Strings Of Life’, Carl Hanaghan teams up with the dynamite vocalist Beth, together delivering a beautiful slice of deep and soulful house titled ‘Illuminate Me’ for Discopolis. Destined for the Ibiza pool parties and beyond, ‘Illuminate Me’ is sun-kissed groove, laced with uplifting chords, a deep funky bassline, topped with Beth’s sweet vocal tones. Toolroom Records’ Long & Harris deliver a sublime remix, pitching the original vocal down to produce a seductive Deep House number. Regular cohorts Changing Planes return to Discopolis adding their special twisted House flavour and give a wink to Acid House of the early 90’s on their remix. Rounding of this stunning package is Swiss DJ/producer Terry Lex, who magic’s up an irresistible Soulful House groove, perfect for any daytime pool party!
Illuminate Me has to be my favourite production to date, for me it has brought the classic Soulful House sound right up to date with it’s modern day Deep House edge. – Carl Hanaghan
During a career spanning just over a decade, UK DJ and producer Carl Hanaghan has well and truly lived the dream having travelled far and wide to headline the biggest festivals and nightclubs across the globe. Hailing from Brighton, Carl was introduced to the house scene in the early naughties where inspirational sets from the likes of Erick Morillo, Joey Negro, MAW and Fatboy Slim would set the tone for Carl’s development as a DJ. Through his passion for uplifting feel good House music, selecting the finest deep, soulful and vocal, both old and new, Carl established himself as an official resident DJ for the International clubbing sensation Hed Kandi in 2006. Carl’s productions, collaborations and remixes have graced leading record labels including Roger Sanchez’s Stealth Records, Cr2, Beatdown, Zulu Records, Hed Kandi and his own Discopolis label and have been heavily supported by the global DJ elite. From laid-back sunshine grooves, percussive tribal beats and slamming disco, Carl’s discography has been heavily featured in the DMC, Cool Cuts, Beatport and Traxsource charts and major radio including BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, among others globally. Carl’s current smash, a cover version of the classic Techno record ‘Strings Of Life’, by Rhythim Is Rhythim, became an instant hit when Zane Lowe dropped it at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and was also championed by Danny Howard on his BBC Dance Anthems show. Carl’s 24/7 lifestyle of working in the music industry over the past 10 years has also seen him A&R for record labels including Ministry Of Sound, Cr2 and Hed Kandi. Between 2010 and 2013 Carl also compiled and mixed the much-loved Hed Kandi compilations, selling over a quarter of a million albums worldwide. Into 2014, Carl is now the music director at his very own record label Discopolis Recordings.
