Cellow Reaches #1 on Beatport with Shadows of the Ancients, the Latest Weapon from Poison 777

Brazilian-born, Lisbon-based producer Cellow has officially landed at the top. His latest EP Shadows of the Ancients, released via Poison 777, reached the #1 spot on Beatport’s Best Techno (Peak Time) Releases, marking a milestone moment in his rising career.

A powerful two-track journey rooted in myth, emotion, and raw techno energy, Shadows of the Ancients blends cinematic elements with peak-time force.
Hamunaptra opens the EP with hypnotic groove and an ethereal female vocal—driven by Cellow’s deep connection to Egyptian mythology.

“I’ve always felt a deep connection to Egyptian culture—so much so that I have a full sleeve tattoo dedicated to my favorite gods,”

“It started when I worked a boring job where the only website I could access was Wikipedia. I’d spend hours reading about ancient Egypt. Hamunaptra is my second Egyptian-themed track, and trust me, there are many more to come. Who knows, maybe I was a pharaoh in another life!”

Vampire String shifts into a darker cinematic space, blending techno with emotional storytelling.

“The inspiration behind Vampire String came while I was playing Vampyr on PS4. I got the idea to create something with a vampire essence, so I started watching movies to draw inspiration.
When I rewatched Queen of the Damned, there’s this iconic scene with a violin solo that immediately struck me. That melody became the foundation of the track.
What I love about that scene is its symbolism—it’s the moment the main character truly grasps that, as a vampire, he’s forever detached from the human world, destined to wander as an eternal being.
It’s dark, poetic, and absolutely captivating.”

In addition to topping the Peak Time Techno chart, the EP entered the Beatport Hype Chart with Vampire String at #34 and Hamunaptra at #40, and also reached #20 in Beatport’s Top Best Releases across all genres.

“Honestly, I couldn’t believe it! I was really proud of the tracks, but the support completely blew me away.
To be ranked alongside legends like Adam Beyer, Wehbba, and Eli Brown—artists I’ve looked up to for years—was a surreal experience. It’s like a dream come true.
I’ve been producing for only three years, so I still consider myself at the beginning of my journey.
Hitting #1 is a milestone I’ll never forget, and it’s definitely fueling me to push even harder.”

Working with Poison 777 was a natural match.

“Releasing with Poison 777 was incredible—super organized and professional.
Their stunning artwork instantly caught my eye, and the music they’re putting out is so authentic and raw.
My tracks always carry a lot of my personality, so I felt like it was the perfect home for Shadows of the Ancients. And I was right!
Huge props to Lucy Snake, the label manager; she’s doing a phenomenal job, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.”

Looking ahead, Cellow is more inspired than ever.

“The success of this EP gave me a massive boost of confidence!
I love blending the raw power and darkness of techno with the things I’m passionate about—video games, movies, anime.
I always imagine myself on the dancefloor, and if the DJ dropped a techno bomb with geek references, I’d lose it!
It’s always fun to see people’s reactions when I play those tracks—someone inevitably comes up and says, ‘Hey man, that vocal is from Devil May Cry, right? I love that game!’
Moments like that are pure magic.”

“Right now, I’m working on a new track inspired by one of my favorite games—Castlevania.
And you can definitely expect more Egyptian energy and geek culture references in my future productions.
This is just the beginning.”

With Shadows of the Ancients, Cellow doesn’t just deliver two club-ready weapons—he introduces a personal universe where mythology, cinema, and rave culture collide.
It’s no surprise the EP resonated so strongly: behind every stab, every melody, there’s a story.
And in today’s techno landscape, few things are more powerful than a producer with something real to say.

For Cellow, the message is clear: the future may lie ahead, but it’s the ancient forces that still move us on the dancefloor.
