Chango Loco ft Evee-G – Close Your Eyes

Eclectic DJ and producer Chango Loco is showing some real skill with his latest project ‘Close Your Eyes’. Chango Loco proposes three different versions of his exciting single also featuring talented vocalist Evee-G. Based in North Lake Tahoe, California, Chango Loco is very active within the scene as a DJ, producer, sound engineer, booker and promoter. Moreover he hits the airwaves every Sunday night with his radio show ‘Chango’s Sunday Night Lounge’. As an accomplished producer his music is mainly influenced by Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, and House, crafting a truly distinct, recognisable sound and timbre. Apart from his original production work, Chango Loco could also be seen sharing the stage with the likes of: Jurassic 5, Mark Farina, Doc Martin, Psychemagik, Fort Knox Five, Rick Preston, Galen, Solar, Random Rab, Scumfrog, Marty Party, and many others.

The three-track project kicks off with the Radio Edit of ‘Close Your Eyes’. The initial soft piano arrangement accompanying Evee-G’s soulful vocals provides a ballad-inspired introduction. Chango Loco then starts to transpose the single closer to an electronic feel with the use of a swirling synth effect, which then emerges into a fullblown House style drumbeat. Whilst the beautiful piano melody is kept all the way, Chango starts modulating the vocals giving them an added electronic touch. His funk influences are also displayed through the melodic brass parts, which he smartly devises at strategic points along the production. This remarkable single is rooted into deeper shades of House, proving the warmth and inimitable laid-back, yet moving groove associated with this sound.

Whilst Chango Loco kept a similar style throughout his Extended Mix, predominantly adding a prominent House infused introduction and ending, major changes were made to the Remix. Once again a demonstration of Chango Loco’s versatility, the Remix version of ‘Close Your Eyes’ is a real head-turner. Immediately introducing a harder groove, the remix has much more of an electronic and forward feel to it. The piano is turned into a smooth synth, whilst the vocals are less natural-sounding, moving into a processed dimension. Moreover, Chango Loco devises a punchier and deeper bass-line that adds an increased sub-frequency layer to the single. The contrast between the original mixes and the remix shows Chango’s mastery of both acoustic and electronic sounds together with his ability to create a balanced blend of both to produce a truly original sound and timbre.

‘Close Your Eyes’ is being proudly released by Gun Records. Managed by Michel Bellens, this Belgian all-round music company deals with music production, publishing, booking, management, remixes, and graphic design, apart from releasing top-notch tracks through its label division. Chango Loco is now putting his name of Gun Record’s growing roster, consisting of: IDEM, Iane Robbertson, Mademoiselle Luna, Syndicate of L.A.W., J.N.O, Nando Fortunato, Dubvictor, Brian Lucas, Grooveland, Evee-G, Alien B, and many more. With such an ambitious project,

Chango Loco has undeniably established himself as an exceptional DJ and producer, building his reputation with distinguishing fresh sounds, enormous versatility, and an innovative musical vision.
