With previous releases on the likes of Defected, Soul Heaven, Toolroom and Cr2, Soul Divide drop their latest ‘Chicago Nights EP’ on Marshall Jefferson and House Of Virus’s Freakin909 imprint this summer.
The two tracks here perfectly embody Soul Divide evident love for classic house music, drawing on their heritage while simultaneously looking to the future. ‘Dope Jam’ is overwhelmingly positive: an uplifting house cut strewn with infectious vocal samples, horn stabs and a devastatingly effective groove. ‘Giving Up’ is a little darker in tone, thanks to powerful, driving bass and a bouncing rhythm interjected with vocal interjections and playful, old-school organ stabs.
Yet another stand-out offering from Soul Divide and Freakin909.
