Chocolate Puma & Tommie Sunshine – Chicago Disco

Chocolate Puma and Tommie Sunshine’s collaboration on ‘Chicago Disco’ is without doubt a meeting of two eclectic musical minds. A track that not only joins together two acts on parallel yet differing career paths, it also mixes together the classic and the fresh, sending the Chicago house sound back to the future for 2015.

‘Chicago Disco’ is set for release on Size Records on 16th March 2015.

Chocolate Puma and Tommie Sunshine’s collaborative effort, ‘Chicago Disco’, pays homage to the true home of house music with a weighted 4/4 beat that pulses through the track, intertwining with polyrhythmic percussion and a robotic vocal line. Introducing a heavily saturated synth line, the traditional Chicago house sound is then thrust into the future of dance music, employing stunted vocal chops and peak building drum patterns to create a track that is just as suited to the fans of dance music’s new-school as it is to hardened Chicago traditionalists.

Chocolate Puma are an act that have become a mainstay of the house scene for over 20 years, with their first single, ‘Give It Up’ under their The Good Men moniker being released on their own Fresh Fruit imprint in 1992. Since then, the Dutch duo have released over 200 records and can count Dance Music Chart #1s and even a UK Chart top 10 amongst their achievements.

Tommie Sunshine, by contrast, has chosen to live his career by more subversive standards. Known for his work remixing popular rock bands (Fall Out Boy, The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Tommie’s past successes are rivalled by his place in contemporary culture, writing for the Huffington Post & playing on the mainstage at Ultra Music Festival three years running. Hugely respected in the dance music world, Tommie has notched up collaborations with Felix Da Housecat and releases on Hysteria and Ultra Records to go alongside official remixes for Katy Perry and Elvis Presley.
