World-renowned techno crew Cocoon is proud to announce this year’s installment of their annual Ibiza Compilation. Helmed by two hugely talented women in electronic music, Dana Ruh and tINI, it is a two-disc compilation that fully captures a Monday night in Amnesia, and for years to come will serve as a testament to what was hot on the island in 2015.
Dana Ruh has released on Cocoon a number of times before, as well as labels like Underground Quality. She produces a deep and smoky brand of house and that also carries over into her stylish DJ sets. tINI is a tech house titan who has long ties with Desolat having released EPs and LPs there over the years. She has her own gang of DJ friends that play with her around the world and, along with Dana, is one of the key guests at Cocoon Ibiza this year.
Dana goes first and sets a moody opening tone with a dub-wide Osunlade cut. From there she keeps it deep, humid and heady with tracks by Cocoon regular Stefanik, UK beatmaker Lo Shea and close friends Guido Schneider & Andre Galluzzi. As Dana slowly shifts through the gears, the beats become more upright and the percussion more loose limbed, warming you through as if on the Amnesia dance floor itself. The latter half of the mix features Chicago talent Amir Alexander, whiskey lover Mr G and a track from Dana herself, all of which complete a perfectly paced and finely balanced mix that leaves you begging for more.
Enter tINI and CD 2. Immediately the mood is more tech inclined and energetic, with robotic groves from Alex & Digby, Persuader and Nina Soul all conjuring up a darker late night vibe. After a dubby, perfectly groovy mid section, things begin to get a little more wild and unhinged. Third Wave Trax, Fosky, Glance and more are all reached for by tINI, and she never serves up obvious or lazy tunes. From there, things ride out in fine Ibizan style.
Once again here Cocoon and two of its key players very much define the Ibiza season that was with an on point selection of music that appeals to underground heads and newcomers alike.
