Alvaro FM - Cook It Up
Desolat look to Madrid based producer and DJ Alvaro AM for their next EP. Across four powerful tracks it showcases his knack for infectious low end bass and as such is a perfect fit for Loco Dice’s legendary imprint.
This young producer has worked with labels like MOOD Records and Material and has a unique sense of electronic rhythm and driving bass drum funk that has seen his work supported by the likes of Marco Carola, Paco Osuna and Nicole Moudaber. A lifelong fan of this label, he admits it is a dream to release on Desolat. This release was written at home in Madrid using a simple but effective studio set up.
First up is ‘Dominator Bell’, a full fat house tune with monstrous kicks and prickly percussion. Frazzled synths run right through it and the whole thing demands your attention and rewards it with high impact grooves and saw-tooth synths. ‘Cook It Up’ is another perfectly high octane tune with pummelling rubber drums, clipped vocal stabs and scintillating melodies. Cut up into explosive and energetic passages, it is the sort of thing to really make a ‘floor sweat.
The greatness continues through ‘So Close’ with its booming kicks and silky hi hat patterns. Whirring machines bring drama and tension and the whole thing is sure to sweep up the floor and carry it away. Last of all, ‘Rhythm Maker’ is filled with drama as digital melodies, sweeping synths and jumbled perc all work you into a lather above rumbling drum lines.
Once again here Desolat has unearthed an essential new talent who has a fresh sound designed for maximum impact in the club.
