Early December will see Copy Paste Soul return to his 2Swords imprint with the ‘Our Sound’ EP, backed with a remix from Man With No Shadow.
2014 has been yet another outstanding year for Copy Paste Soul and here we see him round things off with another release on his 2Swords imprint. A label which is proving to be increasingly popular and has seen an array of support from heavy hitters such as BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Dusky and Groove Armada throughout the year, as well as welcoming the legendary Laurent Garnier and hotly tipped duo No Artificial Colours onto the label via remix duties.
Opening the release is the original mix of ‘Our Sound’ seeing Copy Paste Soul employ raw, broken rhythms and metallic percussive sounds alongside an evolving, stab-led bass hook and processed spoken word vocal lines. The focal stages of the composition then see a tension building string sound introduced with resonant synth licks and an insistent rhythmic change to tail the record out, resulting in something typically infectious and dance floor focused from Copy Paste Soul.
Following the second original from Copy paste Soul entitled ‘Move Your Body’, taking things into darker realms this time with crunchy, distorted drum sounds, sweeping synth licks and sporadic vocal chops. Lying in the forefront though is the menacing, drawn-out bass hook and squelching synth bursts which constantly unfold over the tracks seven-minute duration resulting in a vacillating, hard-hitting number.
Rounding things off is a remix from rising Dutch producer Man With No Shadow who treats us to a more stripped-back take on ‘Our Sound’, bringing ever-evolving, shuffled drum lines intro prominence while layering up the original track’s bass hook and resonant licks to create a gritty, drum focused interpretation.
Copy Paste Soul’s ‘Our Sound’ EP is out on 2Swords 8th December 2014.
