Corona SunSets Festival Clean Up Weston-super-Mare Beach

Blue Flag, the voluntary eco-label awarded to more than 4000 beaches and marinas in 48 countries across the world, is teaming up with Corona to clean up Weston-super-Mare’s Seafront today- Wednesday 2nd July from 5pm to 8pm.

Corona will celebrate the clean-up effort with the debut of Corona SunSets – the world’s first global series of beach festivals – at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 5th July. They’ll be joined by thousands of event-goers with performances from Disclosure (DJ set), MK, Annie Mac, Eats Everything, Rob da Bank  and more.

Corona is a company with strong ties to the beach, according to Jake Kirsch, Global Marketing Director at Corona: “The beach is part of our DNA. Over the past 80 years, we’ve developed a deep emotional connection with the beach in the hearts and minds of people around the world”. Blue Flag, who are working in association with Keep Britain Tidy, share in this mission. As part of their clean-up operation, Blue Flag will conduct an analysis on the rubbish collected and develop detailed information packs to educate the local community & businesses, and also beach users that travel from surrounding areas, to highlight what can be done to improve the beach’s health.

Weston-super-Mare’s Seafront, which is visited by 8 million people a year, is not currently among Blue Flag’s 4000 eco-labelled beaches. It is, however, hoped that the clean-up process conducted by Corona and Blue Flag team will help gain the prestigious award, by helping to understand more about where the beach’s rubbish and clean water issues arise and, by educating local people to help improve the beach’s standard long term.

Corona’s partnership with Blue Flag extends to the entire series of SunSets festivals in the UK, Mexico, Canada, and Spain, and is part of their long term commitment to keeping beaches beautiful all around the world.

The Corona SunSets and Blue Flag team are currently looking for volunteers to help transform the Seafront into one of the world’s most desirable beaches, so to get involved with the clean-up email volunteering@keepbritaintidy.org
