Ecuador’s Andre Salmon drops his ‘Da Thing’ EP on his and Aert Prog’s newly formed Sagmen imprint, with Hot Creations favourite Mark Jenkyns and Leftroom’s Matt Tolfrey on remix duties.
Having amassed a series of releases on the likes of Hottrax, Leftroom and Repopulate Mars, Andre Salmon has rapidly established himself as a name to watch. With a versatile production style that has seen him produce records tinged with minimal and dub techno elements, through to more energy fueled house tracks made for the peak time; we now see Salmon release on his newly launched Sagmen label, whilst recent collaborating partner Mark Jenkyns and also Matt Tolfrey bring remixes.
‘Da Thing’ opens the release through a combination of shimmering hats, bumping low ends and classic rave stabs, whilst ‘Hard Money’ strips things back and lays the focus on shuffling percussion patterns, tripped out vocal samples and hypnotic background nuances.
The latter half of the EP sees Jenkyn’s interpretation of ‘Da Thing’ introduce a fresh bubbling lead line and thundering kicks, before Matt Tolfrey’s remix of Hard Money skillfully fuses the originals eerie vocals with an off-kilter, swinging groove to close the package in fine fashion.
Andre Salmon ‘Da Thing’ drops on SAGMEN on 10th November (Vinyl) & 24th November 2017 (Digital).
