Noréll - Damage Done
Having already made a big noise with their debut single Howl and taken listeners on a frantic journey with the follow-up The Great Escape, Danish trio Noréll are ready to unleash their third effort, Damage Done, via No3 Music on 25th November 2016.
Noréll are pulling pop in a drastically new direction. The inimitable and infectious style of vocalist Marìe Louise Persson Bjarnarson creates a distinction from many of her peers. Throughout Damage Done, there’s a shimmering melody that slices through the lingering bass and exploits the dynamics of Marie Louise’s voice. Intertwined with vocal washes to sink in, you’re left wanting to do exactly what the lyrics say: scream her name.
Underpinned by sharp production that drives the pioneering sound, you can hear all genres that have been drawn on here by co-members Viktor Hagner and Nichlas Malling. Think pop, dance, punk, R&B and electro – but don’t put this trio into a genre. Abolishing clichés, yet providing a track with staying power, Noréll have nailed this song with class.
Catching your ear with another riotous and slick hook, Noréll are forging a loyal fanbase as well as gaining support from Line of Best Fit, Stoney Roads and Amazing Radio. As if that wasn’t taking up all their time, the trio have joined forces with Kill J and created a new Copenhagen-based collective, with Viktor and Nichlas producing four tracks from Kill J’s latest EP Quasi.
