Italian DJ and producer Daniele Baldelli started his disco journey In the 60s when he was discovered by a talent scout, who interviewed him for the job of “putting on records”. The term Disc Jockey had not yet been recognised in Italy. With no mixer or headphones, Daniele programmed and played 7” records by fading in and out whilst listening to the actual noise of the needle, and when the first track was about to begin he would blast in the groove. Eventually, he would mark different variations of speed by using adhesive labels to records. It wasn’t until the 1970s where Baldelli enrolled on his real DJ education, whereupon he was recognised for his talent and skill, he took up residency at a state of the art disco club named Cosmic near Lake Garda. The word spread across Italy and all the tastemakers from Verona, Palermo, Naples, Turin, Florence made the trip to experience the musical phenomenon. There is no question that Baldelli fathered the cosmic movement. His fantasy, musical passion, and technical determination allowed him to set the standards, mixing everything from electronica, synth, reggae, folk from his 60,000 strong record collection.
