Charlotte OC - Darkest Hour

Blackburn native, singer, songwriter and multi-talent Charlotte OC today shares the incredible video for her new single ‘Darkest Hour’. Available today on all digital service providers, the new single joins teaser track ‘Blackout’ as the start of a new journey for Charlotte and her upcoming debut album. In her own words, the track is “an introduction to what the album is about – love, loss and family.”

‘Darkest Hour’ is the perfect amalgam of Charlotte OC’s emotive lyricism and her unique twist on after-dark pop. The accompanying video, directed by Vicky Lawton (Creative Director of Rankin’s Hunger Magazine) the video shows the internal dialogue between Charlotte the performer and Charlotte the person, playing with the ideas of transformation to create a powerful, beautiful video. “Darkest Hour is about watching someone become a prisoner in a toxic relationship,” says Charlotte of the lyrical message. “It’s about feeling powerless because there is nothing you can do to help.”

This track – and previous track ‘Blackout’ – are the first tracks shared by Charlotte OC since a run of critically acclaimed EPs including ‘Burning’, ‘Strange’ and the critically-acclaimed ‘Colour My Heart’.  Receiving rave reviews from the Guardian, Independent, Fader and Vogue to name a few, the EP’s title track became a huge hit in the UK and US alike. Charlotte also fast built a reputation as a formidable live performer, delivering highly praised performances on tour throughout the UK, including Secret Garden Party, SXSW and sold-out London shows as part of her last UK tour.

Hitting the road in November of this year, Charlotte will make stops in Nottingham and Manchester before playing London’s Lexington on the 10th of November.
