David Guetta feat. Emeli Sandé – What I Did For Love

‘Listen’, David Guetta’s incredible new album, has already topped the iTunes album charts in a mammoth 75 countries since its release in November, as well as claim #1 Dance Album spots in both the US and the UK, further cementing David as one of the world’s biggest-selling artists and flying the global flag for electronic music.

Following smash hit singles ‘Lovers On The Sun’ and ‘Dangerous’ at the back end of 2014, David Guetta has kicked off the New Year with the third cut from his sixth studio album. ‘What I Did For Love’ featuring leading UK vocalist Emeli Sandé, is an emotive twist on the traditional ballad that unites deft strings and classic instrumentation with signature electronic elements.

“I love this woman!”, David says on working with Emeli. “She is so talented and such a wonderful person. I have wanted to work with her for years, since she stepped in for Sia to perform ‘Titanium’ for me at the NRJ Awards a few years ago. We have been friends ever since, but she exploded, I had ‘Nothing But The Beat’ in play and we never got the chance. Until now. The minute we stepped into the studio together, I knew it was worth the wait – she’s incredible.”

‘What I Did For Love’ itself opens with soft piano notes and builds slowly, with Sandé’s phenomenal vocal range on display throughout – particularly on the the powerful, heartfelt chorus. Soon exploding into festival-ready euphoria, David’s colourful melodies and infectious beats give the track a real anthemic quality, but the real magic lies in how harmoniously Guetta and Sandé combine.

Proving once again that he remains a true master of the dance floor, the single builds on just how far David has taken electronic music throughout his career and, given his willingness to take new risks on latest record ‘Listen’, reaffirms his desire to make music that brings people together – to dance, but also to listen.

With his first two album singles ‘Lovers On The Sun’ and ‘Dangerous’ both hitting #1 spots in official charts across the world – the former going straight in at #1 in the UK and holding the top spot in Germany for a record-breaking 7 weeks and the latter holding the #1 spot on the French airplay chart for an astonishing 10 consecutive weeks – ‘What I Did For Love’ is perfectly placed to make an equally incredible impression.

Brazil

David Guetta is also currently on tour in Brazil – boasting the largest tour schedule for an international electronic artist Brazil has ever seen – with 9 headline dates forecast across the country in just 11 days.
