As the great Bombis label hits release number 40, they continue to serve up exciting beats with the latest transmission from Rob Pearson complete with fine mixes by Dave Brennan and The Maersk Project.
Rob has been a busy boy as of late, not only with his own unique productions and remix requests, but also with his collaborations with Bombis main man Paul Donton. In addition, he has been busy with the release schedules of his own labels (Evasive Records and Drugsex Recordings) and once again here serves up an infectious house masterpiece.
Entitled ‘Deep Feeling’ it is a brilliantly broody and slow burning cut that is deep and warm and builds and builds to have you in raptures. Tumbling toms, a great vocal and smeared synths all flesh out the groove and give it plenty of weight. It’s an intimate cut that really sucks you in and keeps you locked for eight minutes. The Deeper Dub strips things back to a fat, dubby groove that is super inviting and has a great bassline that is funky and captivating. Swirling pads also add a cosmic feel and carry you off late into the night.
Then comes scene veteran DJ, producer and co-label manager of Bombis Records, Dave Brennan. He has secured underground hits before now as well as playing clubs all over the globe. His version is more electronic and laced with acid riffs. Full of late night freakiness and unhinged synths, it’s ripe for the afterparty.
Last but by no means least, regular Bombis remixers The Maersk Project step up. With music on Stark Futures and a new label setup called Konform the duo take a break from their busy schedule to deliver this fine remix. Their version is a creeping, unsettling tech tune with nicely jumbled drums, clipped vocal sounds and plenty of intergalactic vibes. It is full of intrigue and mischief and rounds out a fine EP.
This is a stellar release from the ever reliable Bombis Records.
