Defected In The House at Ministry of Sound

Following a sensational, sold-out New Year’s Eve party at the legendary London club, Defected In The House returns to Ministry of Sound this February with yet another heavy-duty line-up boasting pure house heritage and fresh new talent in equal measure.

2015 was a landmark year for Defected In The House parties, not least of all in Ibiza where the renowned house champions hosted Amnesia’s Terrace. Here, tens of thousands of clubbers descended over the course of the season to get their weekly house fix. Elsewhere, Defected took over stages at acclaimed festivals including We Are FSTVL, Extrema and Sundown, drawing capacity crowds and turning heads with every show.

Then in December, Defected was named Best Label by DJ Mag in their Best Of British awards, the second time they have won the coveted title, a fitting end to yet another remarkable year.

The line-up at 2016’s first Defected In The House event at Ministry of Sound continues the emphasis on quality that has come to define the label’s parties over the course of their 17 year history.

With close to three decades of dancefloor domination under his belt, Grammy Award nominated DJ/Producer Todd Terry is one of the most celebrated figures in dance music.

As early as 1988, Todd had established his reputation via classic underground tracks ‘A Day In The Life’, ‘Weekend’, and ‘Can You Party’, released under monikers such as the Todd Terry Project, House Of Gypsies, and Royal House, all considered essential and ground breaking. Later he rode the charts with mixes for huge pop acts, including his definitive remix of Everything But The Girl’s ‘Missing’ which to this day acts as a blueprint for house remixes.

Todd’s passion for and knowledge of house music is unparalleled, and a headline slot from him at Ministry of Sound is a rare event not to be missed.

Sonny Fodera and Sam Divine raised the bar as Defected residents in 2015, with each having stand-out years both in the studio and behind the decks. Sam’s label D-Vine Sounds continues to dominate the Traxsource charts, while Sonny graduates to the house music elite this year with his Sonny Fodera In The House mix album released in January.

Riva Starr has forged a formidable relationship with Defected, with a series of stand-out EPs establishing him as one of the preeminent house artists in the game. Dario D’Attis makes his Defected debut following the release of his exceptional ‘This Piano, That Chord EP’ on Strictly Rhythm, while Defected founder Simon Dunmore completes the line-up in the 103, setting the scene with one of his consummate warm-up sets.

Finally, For The Love Of House hosts what is fast become a cult room in The Loft, with DJs Greg Sawyer and Simon Dawson spinning classic house all night long, paying homage to the records that have helped define the scene over the past 30+ years.

Complete with four rooms of music, including the legendary main room, The Box, plus state of the art sound and lights across the venue, Ministry of Sound is a world-class space with 24 years of definitive events for thousands of like-minded clubbers.
