Pedram, the Persian producer hailing from Sheffield-via-Iran is fast becoming synonymous with cutting-edge, genre-evading productions. His latest release, the Delirious / Reaching EP out today via W&O Street Tracks is testament to that fact.
‘Delirious’ is an emotional piece of music. With chopped vocal samples and vocoder setting the sombre tone, flecks of simmering synths that brood under the surface throughout momentarily appear with harmonic vigour, adding extra layers of emotive and hopeful texture. ‘Reaching’ is much the same by way of its ability to evoke strong emotions. A moving introduction that pulls you in with fading strings and synths is then kicked up a gear, with quivering reese basslines and a down tempo electro groove.
Like many of Pedram’s productions, Delirious / Reaching doesn’t fit into on particular electronic genre. His cinematic, hard-to-define style has earned fans from tastemakers to musicians alike including Redbull, i-D, FACT, Boiler Room, Ben UFO, Four Tet, Midland, Paul Woodford and Craig Richards – who was so moved by Pedram’s Lex EP that he provided 3 full re-edits of the same track.
Delirious / Reaching is out 28th October, 2016 via W&O Street Tracks.
