Arnaud Rebotini - Desillusion EP
Bastion of electronic music Arnaud Rebotini returns to the fray with a stunning new EP of genre defying music that is certain to set pulses racing once again…
Arnaud Rebotini has been planted squarely at the heart of electronic music for the last two decades with his often avant-garde and always exciting take on things. As a singer, songwriter, producer and remixer he has pushed the boundaries of electronic music both solo and as part of the Black Strobe duo with Ivan Smagghe, whilst as a live performer he has never failed to excel. Rebotini has also delved into the world of film soundtrack’s in recent years, scoring the music for Robin Campillo’s award winning movie ‘Eastern Boys’ in 2013, this will be followed by another soundtrack in 2016 for the much anticipated follow up “120 BPM”.
Now the much lauded Frenchmen is in the throes of preparing for a brand new solo album to appear sometime in 2017 and in the run up to this he offers up this standout EP featuring 4 diverse tracks. The release opens with the excellent ‘Désillusion’, a dark and menacing slice of techno awash with discordant synth lines and live sounding drum patterns that draw you deep into the void. The second offering comes in the shape of the equally edgy ‘Wildwood Orphan’ which nestles perfectly amongst warbling sci-fi FX and loose, brooding synth stabs.
The second half of the EP sees a change in tone as Rebotini launches us into the wonderfully hypnotic ‘The Djs Wailing’. Filtered acid and mesmerising string lines sit over understated drums to provide a delightfully deep journey into outer reaches of melodic techno. Finally we have ‘Sieg!’ which dives straight into arpeggiated techno/disco madness complete with a mammoth breakdown, sublime stuff!
Arnaud Rebotini has delivered a winner once again here and laid the path for his forthcoming LP next year.
