Following the release of their debut EP ‘Amplify My Silence’, Detox From Grey share the first single from their upcoming project in the shape of ‘A Lot Of Love Is Chosen’, intertwining cinematic soundscapes with emotive vocal talent.
‘A Lot Of Love Is Chosen’ glimmers with ethereal percussion and throbbing bass-lines, eerie synth patterns glittering over the complex musical landscape before crashing into a glorious climax of shimmering keyboards.
Showcasing the band’s ability to create deep, oceanic soundscapes, the track plays with the listener’s senses, manipulating various colour schemes and moods in order to bend the boundaries of modern pop. Inspired by the Irish poet William Butler Yeats, the band explains that the track “explores the choices we face in everyday life, and is a poignant social commentary on the modern human condition.”
“The phrase ‘Detox From Grey’ refers to the idea that we humans sometimes lapse into the darkness and stay there. Learning to let go of negative ideas, people, yourself and the past is crucial in order to grow, and this message of ‘making space for colours in your life’ is prevalent throughout the music.”
The trio consists of vocalist and keyboardist Julie Kvaerndrup, bassist/synth player Jiwoon Whang, and drummer Marco Ninni – meeting and forming in London despite hailing from all corners of the globe. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Radiohead, Björk, James Blake and Portishead, the group pull threads from these diverse artists to create a rich tapestry of their own.
Detox From Grey are a collective who concern themselves with finding the colour in everything – focusing on letting the darkness go.
