Dimitri “Vegas” Thivaios of multi-platinum dance/electronic duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike makes his breakout lead role in Jonas Govaerts‘s “H4Z4RD,” an action-comedy film that has been called “the raciest Flemish film yet.” While the jury’s still out on that claim, we can attest that it’s certainly the most entertaining movie of the summer; Vegas stars Noah, an unemployed gambler who, down on his luck, accepts a gig as a driver of a getaway car that quickly turns ripe for disaster when his daughter is kidnapped and held for ransom by an evil enemy. The plot line is full of twists and turns as fast as Noah “H4Z4RD“‘s gold-plated Lexus, which has Vegas and his on-film cousin Carlos racing for their lives and against the clock. Through the film’s twists and turns, Vegas encounters neo-Nazi, dogged cops, a basketball team, and even a wolf in the battle to get his daughter Zia home safely. “H4Z4RD,” which Dimitri Vegas also co-produced, was dedicated to Dimitri & Mike‘s father, who passed away last year. It premiered earlier on July 20 in Belgium at Tomorrowland‘s Freedom Stage to an excited crowd and has now been unleashed to audiences in the UK during FrightFest – UK‘s largest and brightest international thriller, fantasy and horror film festival. As an experienced performer and sought-after music producer, and now lead actor and producer, it’s fair to say that Dimitri Vegas is predisposed to entertain crowds, no matter the platform or content he creates. Prepare to be on the edge of your seat and laughing hysterically at the antics in this film, and even learn a little lesson along the way. “H4Z4RD” will have its North American premiere this September at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
Most know Dimitri Vegas from the highly successful DJ/producer duo with his brother Like Mike, who made waves with hits like “The Hum,” “Higher Place” with Ne-Yo, and “Instagram” with David Guetta and Daddy Yankee, all of which went Platinum and spent record amounts of time on the Billboard Dance charts, further flexing their prowess by teaming up with hitters like Diplo, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Natti Natasha, Nicole Scherzinger, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Fatboy Slim and Swedish House Mafia, while remixing superstars like Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Chainsmokers, Major Lazer and many more. Beyond making some remarkable television cameos on European TV programming and local films, Dimitri Vegas earlier starred in the European blockbuster “Gangsta,” as well as Jean-Claude Van Damme‘s gritty action movie “Lukas” and “Rambo V: Last Blood” alongside Sylvester Stallone, only to name a few titles. Strongly committed to his acting foray, Dimitri landed a role in this summer’s blockbuster “Jurassic World Dominion,” while also appearing in the “Mortal Kombat 11” video game as the voice and face of fan-favorite Sub-Zero, but “H4Z4RD” marks his debut as a lead actor. If his stellar and hilarious performance as the unlikely hero Noah is any indication, there’s much more to expect from Dimitri Vegas.
