Early August will see the return of Matt Tolfrey & jozif’s Kerb Staller project with ‘Doorwork’ , accompanied by a remix from Shaun J. Wright & Alinka.
Matt Tolfrey & jozif launched their Kerb Staller guise at the tail end of 2014 with the ‘Four Fingers’ EP and shortly after went on to play their debut live set together at London’s fabric alongside the 10 years of Leftroom party at the club. With that inaugural EP and live show the pair garnered the attention of Midland, Hercules & Love Affair’s Andy Butler, Danny Daze, DJ Sneak and Anja Schneider for this new project.
Here we see the duo make a welcome return, once again to Leftroom, with ‘Doorwork’ and the original mix kick starts the package, as is the approach with Kerb Staller material Tolfrey and jozif deliver a raw and hypnotic number led by chugging bass stabs, clicky stripped back rhythms and infectious vocals.
Closing is a remix from Crosstown Rebels act Shaun J. Wright & Alinka who reshape the original with an acid tinged electro twist via spiralling arpeggios, murky square wave bass hits and a baroquely evolving dynamic.
Kerb Staller’s ‘Doorwork’ is out on Leftroom 5th August 2016.
