London-based newcomer DREAMPROPHET makes a striking first impression with the debut single, ‘The Messenger’. With this unveiling comes a new sound; a moody, leftfield cut that is both otherworldly and precise.
The track opens with a low-slung, stomping rhythm. From there, glassy synths and intricate loops spiral outward, growing a pumping atmosphere as euphoric as it is eerie. Blurring the lines between experimental club textures, cinematic electronica and a post-industrial overlay, DREAMPROPHET lands in a fresh space that is undefinable and yet distinctly danceable.
“I recorded a demo version of this track for one of my past aliases almost a decade ago,” the artist explains, “only to later rediscover it, add the oracular messages via my own filtered voice, alongside inviting my past collaborator M to record some guitar textures/solos.”
With a cryptic backdrop and immersive production, ‘The Messenger’ sets the tone for a project that leans into mystery to provide us with clarity. DREAMPROPHET speaks to the chaos beneath the surface; this debut hints at much more to come.
