House Gospel Choir have joined forces with legendary dance music vocalist Duane Harden on new single ‘You Don’t Know Me’, out now.
A modern-day rework of the 1999 Armand Van Helden classic of the same name, ‘You Don’t Know Me’ sees House Gospel Choir inject an additional dose of soul into the track, pairing Harden’s legendary tones with the choir’s revered backing vocals. The original, which featured Harden on vocal duties, hit #1 in the UK Singles chart, selling over 400,000 units.
The collaboration came about during the height of lockdown in 2020, with the group inviting Duane to be part of their Lockdown Sessions all the way from New York City. Founder and creative director of the choir Natalie Maddix enthuses, “To be able to make this legendary record is a dream come true. House Gospel Choir loves Duane Harden!”
Duane adds, “At a time when we were all dealing with the harsh realities of COVID, I was honored when House Gospel Choir asked me to be a part of their Lockdown Sessions to bring joy to the world. And now that joy continues as we officially release our remake of my classic song.”
It rounds off what has been another memorable year for House Gospel Choir, who have released hit single ‘Risk It All’ with Ella Henderson and Just Kiddin (a track with over 9 million Spotify streams and counting), linked up with Blinkie on powerful collaboration ‘Stronger’, and performed at a string of iconic venues, such as Jazz Cafe, Warehouse Project and 51st State Festival.
Bringing together a group of outstanding singers, songwriters, DJ’s and music makers, House Gospel Choir’s live sets create a fusion of the biggest house and gospel tunes that make every performance an unforgettable experience. They burst onto the scene with ‘Salvation’, a debut single that was crowned BBC Radio 1’s ‘Hottest Record’ by Annie Mac, peaking at #1 in the Music Week Cool Cuts Chart and #5 in the Billboard Dance Club Chart. They also released their acclaimed debut album RE//CHOIRED last year.
House Gospel Choir round off a life-affirming 2021 with another stunning collaborative single release.
