EchoDroides – Open Sky

Worker Droides is the label from Chicago natives Frank DeLa Mora & Trancid, aka EchoDroides. Recently added to the prestigious Red Bull Sound Select artist roster, their brand of spacey Synthpop with Italo and NuDisco flavors has led to a performance at Lollapalooza, support from the likes of Giorgio Moroder & Moon Boots, and licensing for the popular Ubisoft game ‘Watch Dogs’.

Open Sky marks EchoDroides’ 8th release, and their 6th through their label, Worker Droides. Despite it being only a 2 track single, it took a little longer to complete due to the fact that around the time Miguel and Frank were working on it, they purchased a few new analog synths. Wanting to incorporate several new analog synth additions from their studio into these songs, they took their time to get acquainted with them. The results were the title track, ‘Open Sky’, and ‘Breathe’.

With every release their hybrid Synthpop / Electronic sound continues to evolve. The title track, Open Sky, has lush analog synth pad layers with a beefy bassline and smooth vocals. With Breathe, the pace is slowed down and starts off with a darker feel. As the track progresses it transitions to a bright uplifting chorus driven by a bouncy bassline. The vocals give the song an sense of romanticism and love.
