Emerging songwriter Nosila unveils ‘Halfway’
Emerging pop-folk sensation Nosila unveiled his latest single, ‘Halfway’, on the 13th of September via Simon John Hatch Music. Nosila is the solo project of South Australian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Simon Hatch has been coming together over the last 4 years, as Simon’s personal and creative journeys aligned. With over 100 000 streams across platforms and counting, Nosila is on the rise, showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. ‘Halfway’ was mixed by Stefan Du Randt (Mac Miller, Thelma Plum) and mastered by Andrew Edgson (5 Seconds of Summer, Matt Corby).
For Simon, the Nosila project is deeply personal, created in memory of his sister Alison. Through passionate lyrics and evocative arrangements, Nosila navigates emotional complexities to offer support to those struggling with mental health issues. This connection to his sister is central to the project. “I think for the most part, I write about what I think she felt and thought about, and how those thoughts and feelings somehow migrated over and on to me,” Simon divulges. Nosila’s music delves into themes of anxiety, existence, and personal growth, with his debut EP Salud Amor Dinero featuring both gentle, nylon-stringed classical guitar pop with electronic elements and more rugged, electrified rock with psychedelic touches. Simon draws influence from the likes of Guns ‘N Roses, U2 and Jeff Buckley. His sound is sure to be enjoyed by fans of impassioned songwriters and soft rockers such as José González, John Mayer and Guns N’ Roses.
‘Halfway’ sees a short ambient intro usher in soulful acoustic guitar strums and Simon’s heartfelt vocals. A fervent pre-chorus with lush instrumental arrangement swells to an anthemic choral chorus, with a suspenseful bridge and passionate electric guitar riff carrying the final chorus to a potent ending.
