Emerson Todd – Love Somebody
Emerson Todd has been at the top of his game since emerging onto the scene in 2008. Now resident in Berlin, the Australian producer and DJ has found favour with labels like Saved, Upon. You and Apparel and here turns out the 17th release for Danse Club Records. It features one original cut with a wealth of tidy remixes from Sascha Dive, label heads Brodanse and Nathan Barato, and follows on in the label’s fine tradition of serving up hot house tracks that make floors dance.
‘Love Somebody’ is a subtle, slow burning deep house track with magical starry melodies, crispy percussion and a seductively deployed male vocal whisper. A monster bassline sweeps up from below to really beef things up creating one of of the best things Todd has done.
Up first to remix are Brodanse themselves, aka Scott and Austen Smart, who have turned their hand to many great tracks before now and have won inumerable fans as a result. Their mix is a more full fat, rounded and rich tech house groover with warm bass, chattery percussion and tons of dance floor appeal.
Next up is deep hosue & techno don Sascha Dive, boss of the Deep Vibes label and someone who always turns out high class music. His Dy-Na remix repackages the track as an organic, humid cut with woody hits, nice dubby chords and a direct groove that is simply irresistible.
Last but not least, Canadian Nathan Barato, who impresses with his tech sound on labels like Cajual and Area Remote, steps up to round out the package. His version is druggy and stripped back, texturally rich and almost militant in its groove. It’s the sort of busy, heady track that will encourage floors to get freaky in the dead of night and offers something uniquely different from the original.
Once again here The Danse Club label has put together a careful considered package that will appeall to DJs and dancers alike.
