Emotive’s third release sees label forefathers Silk 86 pair up with Blamma Blamma once again for a disco fuelled vinyl only release dropping this May.
Launched with the intention of evoking real emotion with each and every release, Emotive is a platform that disregards trends and gimmicks. Whilst still young, the label’s disco, house and soul influences tracks have picked up early support from tastemaker DJs such as Axel Boman, Laurent Garnier, Hot Toddy and Mano Le Tough.
Known for releases on Manucci’s Mistress, 1Trax and Sneaky Music, Silk 86 are Finn Casey and Thomas L – a London based duo that have cemented a reputation for their house and disco cuts containing viscous amounts of soul. On the other hand, Nick DeCosemo’s Blamma Blamma project has been going for almost a decade with releases on Eskimo Recordings and The Walls Have Ears. Together they kick-started Emotive’s vinyl only discography this time last year with an in demand two track release before an excellent follow up solo outing from Silk 86.
A looped crowd sample and infectious bass slaps begin ‘Your Lovin’’ before a powerful soulful vocal comes into play – the result is a quintessential slice of modern disco. On the flip, ‘That Flow’ blends a funky saxophone riff with a compelling groove that ought to set any dancefloor into an all-out frenzy.
Blamma Blamma & Silk 86 ‘Emotive 003’ EP on Emotive on 19th May 2017.
