Reflective Electronic producer WMD released his latest single ‘Nowhere’ on the 11th of November via Natural Blonde. The single premiered on Notion Magazine and is taken from his forthcoming album titled Deliquesce, which is set for release in early 2023 and will be available on vinyl. The producer has previously appeared on the VICE television series States of Undress as well as Epicly LAter’d. Having earned 42 million streams across platforms, he has gained support from the tastemaker publication EARMILK as well as the Seattle-based media outlet Maheen The Globe and has been featured on YouTube channels Fluidified and Inspira.
Born in Cashmere, Washington, based in Seattle, Washington, USA, Michael Erickson, better known as WMD, is an Electronic music producer who creates lush, airy records that thrum with the power of melancholia, the ache of nostalgia, and the sorrow of relationships. Learning to produce at a young age, he fell in love with the internet chiptune scene but grew to produce complex and emotional music. Notably, Erickson has performed at The Crocodile in Seattle, where Electronic duo Plaid headlined. Taking inspiration from LCD Soundsystem, Baths, and Evenings, Erickson taps into Chillwave, Downtempo, and even Folk to create music comparable to Novo Amor, Tycho, and Firewoodisland.
‘Nowhere’ is the soundtrack to a movie that is yet to be written. Hearty and warm, the record evokes pangs of something deep. Emotive guitar strings express the unnamable sensation and, with each picked note, captivate. At the core, a steady rhythm keeps beating, leaving enough space for us to breathe while it holds us in its warm embrace.
