Emulov Shines On new Single ‘Mute’

Electronic duo Emulov have unleashed a captivating new single, ‘Mute,’ featuring MONODUKE. The track expertly blends raw live instrumentation with old-school hip-hop influences, showcasing the duo’s signature approach of merging electronic beats with soulful, handcrafted sounds. The result is a dynamic fusion of lo-fi, jazz, and funk that captures the essence of both classic and contemporary music.

With decades of touring under their belt and performances at world-renowned festivals like North Sea Jazz, Sziget, Pinkpop, Leeds Festival, and Creamfields, Emulov have earned their place in the global electronic music scene. However, their latest release marks a new chapter, as they rekindle their passion for organic hip-hop and dive deep into the lo-fi genre. ‘Mute’ is a reflection of this journey, combining vintage live instruments like Wurlitzers, Rhodes, and analog synths with modern production techniques.

The collaboration with MONODUKE elevates the track even further, as the featured artist adds a smooth and vibrant piano solo that was recorded in one continuous take. Emulov shared, “Mute was a blast to work on and a delightful one-stop session. After that, we visited Daan Herweg aka MONODUKE who did a one-take piano solo on the spot. This took 3, but no edits anywhere…” The result is a seamless, organic soundscape that blends intricate beats, live funk-infused basslines, and electrifying keys into a cohesive and engaging listening experience.

‘Mute’ perfectly encapsulates Emulov’s artistry — not only as producers but as instrumentalists with a deep understanding of blues, jazz, and soul. The track’s rich musicality is a testament to their ability to craft intricate, handcrafted beats while maintaining an authentic, warm sound. With its mix of electronic and acoustic elements, ‘Mute’ offers a fresh take on lo-fi electronica, offering a rich, textured sound that stands out in the crowded space of modern music.

Beyond the music, Emulov’s commitment to authenticity is reflected in the visual elements surrounding ‘Mute.’ The artwork and video content were created by A Small Gang, a collective that works with challenged youth and school dropouts, bringing a layer of social impact to the project. This dedication to both artistic integrity and community involvement further solidifies Emulov’s position as trailblazers in the electronic and jazztronica scene.

Having already amassed over 2.8 million streams and landing a series of editorial placements on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, Emulov continues to push the boundaries of their sound with ‘Mute.’ As they look to the future, one thing is clear: Emulov are a duo to watch, blending the best of both the past and present with their innovative approach to music.
