Eomac Releases New ‘Water Tracks’ EP Via Emika Records

Composer, producer, and DJ Eomac’s sound draws from obscure samples and raw sound design in a continuing exploration of the furthest reaches of intense, visceral music for body and soul.

Eomac injects a new level of consciousness into beat-making by recording water drips and drops.  This edge of real life and water frequencies wants to open a door in your mind and take a rhythmic sound shower, finding tiny minimal melodies within the water itself.

Water Tracks EP releases on the 28th April 2023 via Emika Records. Label owner Emika says “Distorting reality, in the most beautifully crafted and playful manner, Eomac’s Water Tracks are made with natural sounds of water, and they not only make your body want to dance, but are also a joy for the mind’s ear; sound design full of life and character, refreshing for the soul too. If hyper-real techno was a genre – perhaps Eomac has invented it here – the idea to use micro melodies found in drips, drops, and splashes of water feels clever and inventive, Swimming up-stream, against the standardised sound of techno’s machine-made electronic presets.

“Sound is the vocabulary of nature” – Pierre Schaeffer

Eomac’s Water Tracks builds on the work of French composer Pierre Schaeffer, chief developer of his own avant-garde music known as Musique Concrète in the fifties & sixties, a type of music composition that uses recorded sounds as raw material. What Musique Concrete didn’t do, mainly because a global electronic dance scene wasn’t existing back then, is organise recorded sounds into dance rhythms, and that’s why Eomac’s Water Tracks feels progressive and enlightened. A nod to its academic sampling history, combined with a deep understanding of how to make people feel good and move.

Having spent over a decade recording and processing sounds, Eomac is an experienced master when it comes to layering textures for significant effects. It’s the elegant and deliberate reduced approach to placing the water sounds as molecules of rhythms in a hyper-real digital space, which shows his maturity as a producer. Even his early productions sound masterful.

Water Tracks is a true gem in Eomac’s own catalogue of works and for all keen vinyl (and digital) collectors of interesting electronic music. “
