Some tracks come with real back stories and this new one on Ugenius Music is just that: it comes from Child who was on his yearly expedition to Mozambique to learn more about the National animal, the Elephant, when he came across a small vinyl shop and an unmarked record that he insisted on buying to sample.
He uses it in the Ey Ya Tumbo track to great effect: clacking drums are the bed of the groove, but vocal sounds and swirling pads really flesh it out. The result, with the spoken word voices, is brining with character and sure to be big this summer. The remix from Tim Engelhardt is more dreamy and blissed out, with soft pads wandering around the groove, and Jamie Stevens & The Journey Remix it into a sunset house tune that is warm and humid, with organic drums making you sink deep into the groove.
Ey Ya Tumbo is out 20/4/2018!
