Building on two DIY personas, Flo Phielix and Jeff Smink share a deep love for all things house music. Each one of their releases explores genre-expanding tech-house magic, all backed up with flawless production that takes their sound to another level. There’s no wonder their latest EP ‘Fake’ has already received high praise from Vanilla Ace, Chris Sammarco, Oliver Heldens and many more of the biggest names in the business.
It also comes to no surprise that In The Loop are keeping out a keen eye for the freshest and most innovative techno and house producers around. Now with over 20 Top 10 Traxsource Chart Positions, it’s easy to see why Lupe Fuente’s label is attracting the likes of Todd Terry, Zombie Disco Squad, Kerri Chandler, Lefty D and dozens more on a weekly basis. This week, they delve into more classic house sounds with Flo Phielix and Jeff Smink…
Title track and EP opener ‘Fake’ will have you itching for the summer in no time. The stabbing keys add to the hands-in-the-air nostalgia trip of nineties infused beach-vibes. Whilst the groove-fuelled bassline injects a heavy dosage of tech-house for good measure. A nice hybrid of old-school and innovative production styles that suit In The Loop’s criteria to a tee.
To finish off this one-two punch of an EP is ‘That’s The Way.’ A force of its own, this one has overtones of bassline and bass influences, with a party feel throughout. A filthy melody with Jackin’ house vibes and an addictive garage-style melody, ‘That’s The Way’ picks up on sounds from every corner of the dance music world and rolls them into one individual house-thumper.
There’s no faking it with this one. In The Loop, Flo Phielix and Jeff Sminkgive you the real deal.
