Family Piknik announce new date of September 12th

After long months of wait & doubts, French festival FAMILY PIKNIK is now set to take place on Saturday 12th September with some of its postponed July edition’s headlining artists still being featured

This amazing casting joins La Fleur and Rodriguez JR. (live), who were both initially supposed to play on June 6th for the now postponed Boarding to Family Piknik event. The Family Piknik Music crew will also be largely involved behind the decks next to his head honchos Tom Pooks & Joy Kitikonti, with all the sparkling talents from the label itself : Abstraal, Essence of Time, Pontias b2b Mood Gorning b2b Albanø. Local acts The Dualz (live) and Bartok & Canadas will also be in action from 11 in the morning!

This new date was officially disclosed on mid-May, when French government clearly said no public gathering would be allowed until September. Since then, the Family Piknik’s team talked with Montpellier Airport (which holds a special event with them since 2018) to imagine a new hybrid event, combining their amazing location – next to the planes – with some of the key points of Family Piknik’s unique concept : open-air, day/night open hours (from 11am to 4am), pique-nique and limited capacity (5000) accordingly to the Covid-19 context. 

The big stage that was already developed for the initial July festival will be installed in the heart of a new space, much larger in size, with a breathtaking view of the slopes. After months of frustration, this party has all it needs to be a mesmerizing event ! 

« We do hope this terrible health crisis will be behind us in September because we put all our energy in this new event. We’ve suffered a lot from this crisis, like many of our friends promoters, artists and festivals. All these months of forced inactivity have a serious impact on our structure and it threatens our whole project. Being able to host this alternative event on September 12nd is a kind of last chance opportunity to save our year and imagine a brighter future to celebrate properly our 10th birthday next summer ! We feel like people really need dancing and we’re thrilled to set up our dancefloor next to Montpellier airport’s slopes, which is a very special spot !  »

Tickets are on sale (40€ regular / 100€ backstage) on www.familypiknikfestival.com with a reduced capacity of 5000 attendees. If the French authorities decided not to allow the event due to Covid19 restrictions, all tickets would remain valid for 2021.
