After teasing their upcoming EP with the release of their single “All This” at the beginning of this year, Point Point unveil Family Portrait, out now on Record Record.
The Parisian trio’s latest work is less of a musical offering and more a manifesto of their personal taste, style and flare. The 3-track EP is carefully crafted with each synth and melody tuned to explore uncharted territories. The first single “All This” features a slower tempo with chopped vocal samples and stuttering kicks to provide an uplifting ride. “A Piece of Sun” kicks the pace up a notch with high pitched breaks laid over a smooth bassline. Rounding out the selection is “Au Revoir” featuring a slow ambient build, melodic keys, and understated drums that let the rhythms and mellow mood stand out.
Comprised of Aazar, Devoted-To-God and Nömak, the Parisian collective known as Point Point have been gaining traction in the US lately. Their 2015 release Life in Grey reached more than 3 million plays on Soundcloud, 1.8 million streams on Spotify, and their imaginative music video garnered 2.6 million views on YouTube. Family Portrait is their second EP to date, following their first EP Contrastive Focus Reduplication on OWSLA that gained support by heavy hitters like Diplo, Skrillex and DJ Snake.
