Late November will see Kaluki Music return with the ‘Feelings’ EP, coming courtesy of Citizenn and accompanied by a remix from Harvard Bass.
Laurence Blake better known as Citizenn has come a long way over the past few years with the release of his debut album on global electronic music driving force Crosstown Rebels amongst other projects for the likes of 20/20 Vision, AVOTRE and ABODE Records. This time round though it’s Kaluki Musik unveiling Citizenn’s latest project, a perfectly fitting home for these two new tracks from Laurence, aimed squarely at the dance floor.
Title track ‘Feelings’ takes the lead with robust percussion that echoes into the depths alongside sweeping synth drones, murky vocal lines and occasional sub bass swells to create a dynamic and energetic opener. ‘Story So Far’ follows and flips the switch to a more reduced feel via sparse rhythms whilst hooky synth leads, ever-unfolding bass hits and sporadic vocal chops ebb and flow throughout the composition, resulting in an equally heady cut for the EP.
Third and finally Turbo’s Harvard Bass reworks ‘Story So Far’ with his own twist, employing a raw, stripped-back rhythmic approach whilst utilizing the original parts to create a subtle movement and underlying tension throughout.
Citizenn’s ‘Feelings’ EP is out on Kaluki Musik 28th November 2016.
