Felix Lenferink – The Same Species Occur EP

Felix Lenferink drops five original cuts on Chasing Unicorns for ‘The Same Species Occur’ EP this November.

Following on from it’s milestone tenth release which stacked up serious support from names like Groove Armada, Tensnake, Shadow Child & Robert Owens to name a few, the small and perfectly formed Chasing Unicorns is back with a new 12″ this November. For number eleven the London based imprint brings you Felix Lenferink and his ‘The Same Species Occur’ EP – five tracks packed with warm exotic rhythms & arpeggiated melodies.

Felix Lenferink is one of the many monikers of Holland-based Steve Mensink, under this fresh alias Mensink’s creative focus lies upon an output heavily influenced by the UK led bass and tech-house sounds emerging in recent years. Under his various monikers Mensink has stacked up several Boiler Room appearances along with releases on the powerhouse that is Delsin Records and Detroit Swindle’s imprint Heist Recordings.

In this release special mention must go to title track ‘The Same Species Occur’ which Mensink cultivates over soft harmonies, smoky percussion and sultry synths to dish up a deep and fuzzy finish emanating all types of smooth. It would be fair to say that over the course of the whole EP Mensink proves adept at managing many elements at once for the diverse five-track offering; from the subtle blooming synths and hip-hop infused ‘Lodges In The Mind’ to the shrill flutters and wacky intonations of ‘Doubloons’ each and every track delves down it’s own dynamic journey in broken beats and warm resonating intonations.
