Gothenburg-bred producer Johan Wedel, aka WDL, has unveiled his brand new track, titled ‘Fight’, set for release via Steve Angello’s iconic SIZE Records label.
A creative and dynamic producer, 27 year-old Wedel’s WLD moniker allows the Swede to display some of his more creative and innovative sounds, with ‘Fight’ focusing on electronica-inspired synth-chops and vocal samples from martial arts video games in the ‘Tekken’ mould.
The release follows WDL’s ‘No Wings Airlines’ LP; a “who’s who” of incredible top liners, including Swedish OWSLA affiliate Elliphant, who’s hoarse crooning on album opening moment and lead single‘Stardust’ still rings as one of the album’s defining moments.
Often found dabbling in the untouched avenues of electronic music and with a sense of forward-thinking, the Swede’s inherent artistic character extends well and truly into his sound.
Having scored numerous music spots in TV shows and commercials, TV and online (including Netflix’s ‘Into the Inferno’ trailer and Pull & Bear’s worldwide campaign), writing music to film has sparked a special interest in the 27-year old, whose dream project, if asked, would probably be putting a soundtrack to a full-length motion picture.
An intriguing producer in his own right, WDL’s endeavour to always evolve and improve is really what permeates his songwriting and the creative process it entails. With an official anthem score for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, official remixes for the likes of MØ, Elliphant and Tove Lo and a 15-piece full-length to his name, WDL gears up for a jam-packed new year with Size Records, with a slew of new singles in the pipeline.
