City Showcase presents ‘Finding The Future 2015’ free music seminar at the Apple Store, Covent Garden, London WC2E 8HA, 18-20 November 2015.
City Showcase has announced the artist line up for Finding The Future 2015 at the Apple Store, 18-20 November 2015, including breaking acts Louis Mattrs, Emma McGrath, and CoCo And The Butterfields, who will be taking part in the ‘Meet The Future’ sessions.
The ‘Meet The Future’ sessions feature heavily tipped new acts appearing between 7 and 7-30pm each day with publishers, managers and labels presenting their new writers/artists who will perform and answer questions led by the PRS for Music and The PRS For Music Foundation. Last year’s ‘Meet The Future’ featured Island Records new signing Nick Brewer, whose recent single release ‘Talk To Me’ Featuring Bibi Bourelly charted strongly in the UK Top 10.
Louis Mattrs first came to light in 2013 when his Youtube mixtape caught the attention of Chase & Status. They collaborated on the Top 10 single ‘Lost & Not Found’, which sold 250,000 copies, leading to festival dates at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds. ‘War With Heaven’ from his debut EP was premiered as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’ on BBC Radio 1 and featured on US rapper Meek Mill’s album trailer for ‘Dreams Worth More Than Money’. Louis is planning to release his debut album in 2016.
Emma McGrath is a 15-year old songwriter and performer from Hertfordshire. She released her first EP, ‘The Judgement’ in November 2014, and received BBC Radio 2 plays from Dermot O’Leary, and had one of her tracks chosen as BBC Introducing ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC 3 Counties. She has also played the prestigious 100 Club on Oxford Street. Emma is currently studying for her GCSEs as well as her Grade 8 guitar exam, while working on her new EP.
CoCo and the Butterfields began life as buskers in Canterbury, Kent. After beating off 10,000 competitors to win the UK Live and Unsigned competition in 2012, they toured the UK playing sell out shows and quickly becoming a festival favourites, performing at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival and Greenbelt. 2015 has seen CoCo and the Butterfields complete their second UK tour, sell out London’s prestigious Jazz Cafe and perform at one of Europe’s biggest festivals – Colours of Ostrava.
Finding The Future will also feature artists, Charlene, Joe Jury, Peter C Swash, and James Henry, taking part in the City Showcase Masterclasses. Their performances will receive constructive critique from songwriters hosting the ‘A Million Love Songs Later: What are the elements of a great love song?’ panel at 5-45pm on Thursday 19th November and composers hosting Creative Film & TV Songs: Writing to a brief at 5-45pm on Friday 20th November.
Following its highly successful launch last year, the free Finding The Future seminar features panels and presentations including wide-ranging topics such as careers in digital and new media, artist relations and events, reaching the modern consumer, the international music market, artist management and entrepreneurship, music publishing, and songwriting.
Key executives already lined up to chair, moderate and speak at panels include moderators, William Booth from Sony/ATV, Adam Cardew from Absolute, Ben Jones from the Musicians’ Union, Andy Ellis from the PRS For Music, Roxanne de Bastion from the FAC, Morna Cook from Universal Music, Liz Stokes from Record of the Day and acclaimed writers from BASCA Tim Fraser and David Lowe. This year’s speakers include Gideon Mountford from Believe Digital, film/TV composer Paul Farrer, songwriter Ben Montague, Caryn Tomlinson from Universal Music International, Angie Jenkison from Teenage Cancer Trust, Josh Brandon from the Insanity Group, Neil Simpson from ATC, Janice Brock of Sony/ATV and many more.
There will also be interviews with legendary industry veterans including Daniel Miller founder of Mute Records interviewed by Alison Wenham from AIM, Henry Semmence from Absolute interviewed by Chris Cooke from CMU, and Robomagic founder Rob Hallett interviewed by James Hanley from Music Week.
UK Music Chief Executive Jo Dipple will give a key note presentation providing an insight into the key issues and challenges facing the UK music industry as we head towards 2016.

Emma McGrath is a 15 year old songwriter and performer from Hertfordshire. She picked up the guitar properly for the first time at the age of 10 and played her first open mic at 13. Writing a combination of hard hitting acoustic music carried by an incredibly powerful voice, at only 15 Emma has already achieved a lot. She released her first EP, ‘The Judgement’ in November 2014, received BBC Radio 2 play on Dermot O’Leary’s show, and had one of her tracks chosen as BBC Introducing ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC 3 Counties. She has also played the prestigious 100 Club on Oxford Street. Currently studying for her GCSEs as well as her Grade 8 guitar exam, Emma is also finding the time to work on her new EP.
She has just been awarded the Lynsey de Paul Prize from the PRS For Music Foundation.

CoCo and the Butterfields began life as buskers in Canterbury, Kent.
