Birmingham’s Flashback events continue to stand the test of time, flying the flag for Drum & Bass, Jungle and Hardcore in the Midlands, much as it has done since the mid-nineties. Returning to XOYO Birmingham on Saturday 29th June, Flashback promises its best event yet – The Summer Gathering 2024 – including unmissable performances from Hazard, Micky Finn, Pilgrim, DJ Seduction, Dougal, Flashback’s own Mistress Mo, and many more. In a city steeped in rave and nightlife culture, many brands have come and gone throughout the decades, yet Flashback and its die-hard crowds remain a constant fixture. Tickets are available from £28 via XOYO Birmingham.
Heading perfectly into the heights of summer, Flashback’s upcoming day-into-nighttime party at XOYO Birmingham has all the makings of a standout event in the Midlands’ clubbing calendar. Spread across two arenas; the roof terrace offers idyllic skyline views and a captivating open-air clubbing experience, whilst the warehouse provides a grittier, more underground appeal. Ravers are in for an intense 11-hour stretch of nostalgic bliss, delivered by an array of giants of the game, local heroes and Flashback’s iconic residents.
There’s a plethora of delights in store for partygoers, including a ‘History of Hazard’ set from Hazard & IC3, Micky Finn & Fearless’ fusion of old skool and new skool, an appearance from seminal Jungle head Nicky Blackmarket, a rare performance from DJ Seduction, and DJ Pilgrim is stepping out of retirement for a return set alongside Lenni. All this plus more from Dougal & Magika, Ratty & Ranski, Top Buzz Legacy, Mistress Mo & Juiceman, K Jah, Escape B2B Phase 2 & Busta, Trauma DBC & Boogieman, Chris Rockz, DJ Astro and Neil Cressy. Flashback is pulling out all the stops to make this one extra special.
Flashback’s journey began in 1996 as a second-floor room at Crunch in Hockley, quickly becoming the go-to spot for old-school ravers. The event’s popularity saw a step up to the legendary Que Club – Flashback’s home for nearly a decade. Flashback regularly sold out the 2,500-capacity venue weeks in advance, owing to an impressive lineup of pioneering DJs, including Ratpack, SL2, DJ Sy, Ratty, Ellis Dee, Grooverider, Altern 8, and Pilgrim.
When Que Club closed its doors, Flashback found new venues, continuing its streak of successful events at The Sanctuary and The Custard Factory in Birmingham before taking a well-earned hiatus in 2006 after its tenth birthday. Since its return in 2011, the brand has remained a jewel in the crown of the Midlands’ respected rave culture, with a continuous supply of top-tier Drum & Bass, Jungle and Hardcore.
Since its grand opening in September 2023, XOYO Birmingham has quickly become a magnet for live music lovers and up-for-it ravers in Birmingham and beyond. Despite its brief tenure, the venue has proven its mettle, building on the prestigious reputation of its London counterpart while carving out its legacy in Birmingham’s dynamic nightlife. Featuring five unique venues and the capacity to host nearly 3,000 partygoers, XOYO Birmingham perpetuates an unmatched clubbing experience in the West Midlands.
