After launching three years ago as a weekly residency at Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire as a place for a core group of talented friends to play records and hang out, forward thinking house and techno party FLY has gone from strength to strength, holding court at world renowned clubs like Barcelona’s La Terrazza and Glasgow’s Sub Club in that time.
Now the team behind FLY embark on an all new journey, continuing their mission of bringing together likeminded people with great music, this time in the open-air surroundings of the world heritage site underneath the iconic Edinburgh Castle for the Scottish capital’s first inner city open-air house and techno festival, taking place late this summer.
Backed by FLY residents Denis Sulta and Theo Kottis — local boys who now regularly feature on Radio 1 — the initial lineup includes disco don Motor City Drum Ensemble, UK live legend Mr. G, Dutch house heroes Detroit Swindle and Sub Club's Harri + Domenic, with many more still to be announced, including a headliner not to be missed.
The event will take place in the Ross Bandstand on September 24th, a prime city centre location only two minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. This fantastic venue has been neglected for years, so FLY are buzzing to bring it back to life and showcase the space to a fresh, new, young crowd.
FLY Open Air Festival will be 18+ and is certainly a party you don’t want to miss.
