Arctic Lake - For Us (Huxley Remix)
Ambient three piece Arctic Lake are set to unveil the seminal remix of self-released offering ‘For Us’ from remix champion Huxley aka Michael Dodman.
The original, a heartfelt mini-epic takes a new form, already turning the heads of BBC Radio 1’s dance pioneers Annie Mac and Pete Tong. The enchanted and mellow house beat carries the distinctive hushed and haunting tones from Arctic Lake front-woman Emma Foster. Her sultry-yet-vulnerable vocal dips and weaves effortlessly through this melancholic and ethereal club re-edit.
“With ‘For Us’ we wanted to try something with slightly more energy than our past two singles, venturing slightly out of our comfort zone, while still trying to preserve a sense of sincerity and emotion.” – Arctic Lake
North London-based, their debut track ‘Limits’ stole a spot on the BBC Radio 1 playlist earlier this year. Arctic Lake have continued to garner the support of a growing online following with encouraging praise from The Line Of Best Fit, The 405, Hilly Dilly and CLASH Magazine, whilst pricking up industry ears from Huw Stevens to Labrinth. This month saw band members Andy Richmond (drummer), Emma Foster (vocalist) and Paul Holliman (guitarist) take to the stage at King’s Cross’ iconic venue St Pancras Old Church, demonstrating their ever expanding capability as a studio based band that can offer a goose bump-inducing live performance.
With inspirations from the prodigious Bon Iver and up-and-comer Låpsley, Arctic Lake are steadily carving their sound, and cementing themselves as one of the most compelling new artists of 2015.
Arctic Lake are a modern renaissance band for the city. Drawing to mind AQUILO, Grimes and Sigor Ross at the same time, For Us is an emotive validation of what’s to come from the dreamy electronic trio.
